The Chaumont-Gistoux rural district includes the villages of Bonlez, Chaumont-Gistoux, Corroy-le-Grand (Vieusart), Dion-Valmont and Longueville. The 11040 inhabitants appreciate the qulity of life in this semi-rural commune. It is peaceful and charming but has admirable and varied shopping ans service facilities in its centre. The area is close to Louvain-la-Neuve and Wavre, readily accessible by the E411 (exits 8, 9 or 10) and N25 motorways. For several decades, the countryside, the varied, wooded terrain ans the pisturesque valleys of the Train and other streams have drawn townpeople, hikers ans sports enthusiasts to the Brabant Ardennes. Tucked away in the valley of the Train in a beautiful and extensive park, the Château de Bonlez was built on the location of a primitive 13th Century manor and 15th Century foundations. It is built of brick, surrounded buy a moat and has four towers at the corners. The castle is private property ans is lived in. |

| The church of Saint Bavon, perched on a promontory, dominates the valley of the Ry at Pré Delcourt. Its founations date from the end of the 12th Century. Ia was built within the walls of the Château de Chaumont of which the former walls ans a building, now used as a presbytery still subsist. The tower is romanic and the choir gothic. There is also a trumphal arch and a work by Polydore Beaufaux, "The martyrdom of St Stephen". |

| The Champtaine nature reserve, in the former sandpits of the same name, is remarkable for its flora, regional fauna and cliffs which are reminiscent of the Far West. |

At Corroy-le-Grand, the former fortified castle-farm proudly dominates the valley of the Train.
The buildings, in the form of a quadrilateral, were altered in the 17th Century. There is a porch with a dovecote, two square brick towers of unequal height, an older stone round turret and a 1633 flagstone floor with a coat of arms (it provides a setting for banquets).

| Museum of the KW Line at Chaumont, a regional museum of the Second World War covering the Anvers-Namur line of defense. The museum has numerous objects, plans, photos and posters, a collection of carefully reconstitued uniforms worn by the Allies a,d their adversaries and daily utensils of the combattants. |

| The Château de Vieusart was built in 1858 in a composite style in redbrick and white stone, following plans from architect Cluysenaer. |

| Dion-le-Mont has preserved two ancient farms : the Cense de Louvranges from the 17th Century which was a fief of the lords of Wavre and the Cense de Villers which belonged to the Abbey of Villers-la-Ville and mentioned as far back as the 13th Century. |

| At Dion-le-Val, the 19th Century church has a dressed stone tabernacle which dates from the 15th Century and a number of 16th Century recumbent fogures. In front of it the castle farm, has a fine polygobal courtyard and a carriage gate with a basket handle arch. The square, the church, the presbytery, the cemetery, the tombstones around the church and the farm have been a listed grouping since 1954. |

Gastronomy
Every week many gastronomes are attracted to Chaumont-Gistoux by the local tarts and pastries which are already well known. There are other local products which make the detour worthwhile. These include fresh, sasty artisanal farm produce, trout ans schrimp bred in the fresh waters of the Glabais, and the watercress cultivated in the springs. A whole range of quality restaurants offer a welcome to visitors.
